Consciousness

Consciousness is basically undifferentiating, non-discriminating. Its purpose is merely to register that contact has occurred in mind or body.

Perception, however, is discriminative. It draws on the store of past experiences in order to evaluate and categorise any new phenomenon.

The past reactions become the points of reference by which we seek to understand a new experience; we JUDGE & classify it in accordance with our past mental conditioning.
